Saving power with the energy efficient bulbs

Energy Efficient Bulbs

Energy saving in all walks of life has lost its fad status for environmentalists and become a major hot topic in every school, office and home. It’s no longer something we may like to do, but something we need to do if we are to slow down global warming.. Top of the list of energy saving initiatives is the need to save on power use, and that generally means electricity. Light bulbs do not use massive amounts of electricity, as can be seen from the wattage: 60 watt is normal, and then you have 25 watt and 100 watt. Individually its hardly anything, but multiply that by the number in house of 8 rooms, then multiply that by many millions of homes and the problem becomes serious.

The most efficient bulbs are the coiled shape ‘ longer lasting’ bulb. They take a while to warm up to full luminance but they last much longer and make for a more efficient household. The ubiquitous fluorescent is good on energy, but we don’t want our houses looking like an office. So those can go in the kitchen and the garage – the workplaces. In the offices of our city’s the amount of electricity used is plain scandalous and governments across the world are now telling industries that they have to cut down – or they get fined. In the UK, Australia and America the message is the same. But the simplest answer is to not leave the light on!! That’s about as basic as it gets.

The number of office blocks with lights burning away into the night is amazing, but there is a chance that Smart technology will help with automated and remote switch downs.

But as the saying goes in power conscious offices: Last one to leave – switch the lights off!!
