Lighting Your Fitness Centre

Outside of a comfortable aesthetic and keeping your eyes safe from excessively bright light, it makes sense to think “green” nowadays in almost any setting. The lighting in your fitness centre is no exception. The financial savings and longer durability of LED lighting and other smart lighting make sticking with traditional bulbs nonsensical. New lighting can even be cleaner as many of the old incandescent bulbs contain dangerous toxins when they are disposed of.

So one of the first things you might do in lighting your fitness centre is buying LED lighting. A further investment would be the control over this lighting. Although LED lighting saves at least fifty percent or more in energy savings over traditional bulbs, smart sensors and manual controls can help you save even more. This is a financial savings in cost as well. In fact, in some areas you may be able to get paid for this savings. So you not only pay less but get money back!!

An example, of smart infrastructure that could help you control the energy use of the lighting in your gym would be sensors that turn on an off with motion. They could be programmed to turn off every fifteen minutes when no motion is sensed or controlled manually. For example, you could have a control and security device that monitors all the rooms in your fitness centre. One of your staff could control and monitor this from a central location turning on and off or at least dimming the lighting where there is no activity. The savings on your electricity bill would likely pay for any extra attention required by your staff.
